Las Vegas home calendar: what to do each month

Last checked October 29, 2026

Short answer

The four dates every Las Vegas homeowner should know are the watering switches: Mar 1 (3 days a week), May 1 (Monday to Saturday), Sep 1 (3 days) and Nov 1 (1 day). Get the AC checked in spring and the furnace in fall, and change the filter monthly.

Every month: inspect, clean or change your AC and furnace filter (ENERGY STAR).

January

  • Watering: 1 assigned day a week (LVVWD winter schedule). Your day
  • Jan 1, 2027: the nonfunctional grass ban (AB 356) takes effect for businesses, apartments, HOA common areas and government property. Grass rules
  • Jan 1, 2027: City of Las Vegas sewer fees go up 8.2%.

February

  • Watering: still 1 assigned day a week. Your day
  • Off-season: ENERGY STAR notes HVAC contractors are busiest in peak seasons, so winter is an easier time to compare AC replacement quotes if your system is old. Repair or replace?

  • Mar 1: watering switches to 3 assigned days a week. Your days
  • Spring time change: ENERGY STAR suggests checking your cooling system in the spring, before contractors get busy. Tune-up and repair prices

  • After July 1: new homeowners get the Assessor's 3% tax cap postcard. Send it back. Checklist

  • First cold nights. Las Vegas averages about 10 nights a year at or below freezing. Heating prices

December

  • Watering: 1 assigned day a week. Your day
  • Dec 31, 2026: Henderson says nonfunctional grass on covered properties must be removed by now. Grass rules

On LVVWD's schedule: 1 day a week from November to February, 3 days in March, April, September and October, and Monday through Saturday from May to August. Never Sunday.
