Range shown: gas furnace only, installed.
The "typical" mark is Angi's $4,808 national average, since no Las Vegas source publishes one. The high end is a Henderson contractor's typical full replacement.
Why furnaces are different here
- Short heating season. Las Vegas averages 1,836 heating degree days a year against 3,722 cooling degree days, per NOAA's 1991 to 2020 normals. That's about twice as much cooling demand as heating.
- But it does get cold. The normal January low is 40.5°F, and the airport averages about 10 nights a year at or below freezing. The record low is 8°F.
- Most homes heat with gas. In the City of Las Vegas, 61.5% of homes heated with utility gas and 37.3% with electricity in the 2010 to 2014 census survey. That data is old, and we haven't found newer valley numbers.
- Furnaces last longer than ACs here. ENERGY STAR says to consider replacing a furnace past 15 years, and a Las Vegas HVAC company puts them at 12 to 15. Compare that with 10 to 15 years for an AC in Vegas heat.
If your AC is near the end of its life, ask for a quote on the AC alone and on the AC and furnace together. Doing both at once is one install and one permit. A heat pump is the other option: one system that both cools and heats.

Local ranges are from a Nevada cost site and a Henderson contractor, not invoices, and they disagree: the contractor's typical job ($6,000 to $7,500) sits near the top of the metro range. National rows are labeled. No source we found splits installed prices by efficiency (80% vs 95%), so we left that out.

The first two rows are Las Vegas companies. Parts rows are national averages from HomeAdvisor because no local company publishes a full list. One Henderson contractor lists its own prices: igniter $385, flame sensor $285, limit switch $420, gas valve $800, thermostat $500, blower motor $1,500, and a $60 diagnostic that's often waived if you approve the repair.
Heat exchanger warning: a cracked heat exchanger can leak carbon monoxide into your home. Repairing one usually isn't practical or safe, so most get replaced, and on an older furnace that usually means a new furnace. If a tech says it's cracked, ask to see it, and get a second opinion before you spend thousands.
Tune-ups
Ambient Edge, a Las Vegas company, listed a furnace tune-up at $140 and a full system tune-up at $175 (2022 prices). National guides put a tune-up at $100 to $200. Fall is a good time, before the first cold night.
Rebates and tax credits for 2026
- Federal tax credit: gone. The 25C credit (up to $600 for a gas furnace, $2,000 for a heat pump) ended for anything installed after December 31, 2025.
- Southwest Gas: its 2026 Nevada residential rebate form lists no furnace rebate.
- NV Energy: its 2026 rebate sheet lists no heat pump or AC equipment rebates, only duct sealing ($100 to $300) and insulation.
- Some contractor pages still advertise furnace rebates. Ask them to show you the official program page before you count on it.
The 2028 efficiency rule
The U.S. Department of Energy finalized a rule in December 2023 that new non-weatherized gas furnaces must be 95% efficient (AFUE), with a compliance date of December 18, 2028. In April 2026, the gas industry asked DOE to push that to at least January 1, 2030, and DOE hadn't decided as of that notice. If you're replacing a furnace in the next couple of years, ask your installer how the rule affects your options.
Permits
Clark County offers simple online permits for furnace replacement (under and over 100,000 BTU) and for replacing the AC and furnace together. Your contractor usually pulls it. Ask if it's in the quote, and check their license with our contractor check guide.
