Artificial turf cost in Las Vegas
Prices last checked October 29, 2026
Artificial turf in Las Vegas runs about $5 to $25 a square foot installed, depending on the installer and the turf. Henderson listings put a typical project at $2,440 to $5,831. The SNWA grass rebate is $5 a square foot, but turf only counts if it's permeable, and the converted area still needs at least 50% living plant cover, so wall-to-wall turf won't qualify.

Turf and the SNWA rebate
- The rebate: SNWA pays $5 a square foot for the first 10,000 square feet of grass you convert at a single-family home, then $2.50. LVVWD customers who applied on or after January 1, 2025 get an extra $2.
- Turf alone won't qualify. SNWA accepts permeable artificial turf as a ground cover, but the converted area still needs at least 50% living plant cover at maturity. Plastic, concrete and other impermeable materials aren't allowed.
- Get approved first. SNWA says don't remove any grass until its pre-conversion inspection. Start early and the project isn't eligible. The minimum is 400 square feet.

How hot it gets
- A UNLV and DRI study found artificial turf got up to 69°F hotter than irrigated grass and peaked at 169°F. It tested one product and missed the two hottest months.
- Penn State says synthetic turf is generally 35°F to 55°F hotter than natural grass. Its highest reading cited was 200°F on a 98°F day in Provo, Utah.
- Watering helps only briefly. In Penn State's numbers, turf dropped from 174°F to 85°F, then was back to 120°F within 5 minutes.
- If kids or dogs use the yard in summer, plan for shade. A UNR Extension educator says turf has no cooling effect.
HOA and city rules
- HOAs can't ban it. NRS 116.330 says an HOA can't prohibit drought tolerant landscaping, and the law's definition includes artificial turf and decorative rock. You still submit plans for architectural review, and the HOA can't unreasonably deny them.
- Henderson: bans new grass in residential front yards and caps it at 50% in side and back yards. Its page doesn't mention artificial turf, so check with the city before assuming those limits apply to synthetic turf.
- AB 356 bans nonfunctional real grass on commercial, multifamily, government and HOA common areas, not single-family yards.
